impressin’ myself (self-impressin’?!)

la la la la

in the words of one Miss Cassandra, “I am in love with the universe” — i have accomplished so much in this week that I never thought possible… and I still have energy to boot!!!

I detailed some of my accomplishments yesterday, but I wanted to talk about how amazing last night was.

First, 5.2 mile race — maybe one of the most comfortable so far… I feel like I’ve finally broken in my running legs. At the beginning of the race I overheard a girl say “I’m not going to think about the run, the length, how far I’ve gone… I’m going to thing ‘this pace, this is just what I’m doing right now… I think I’ll do this for an hour or so'” (okay so I’m paraphrasing where I can’t remember exact wording) and it WORKED! I used that mindset through the run and not only did I finish in acceptable time without feeling like I was going to collapse, Lisa and I talked the whole time without getting out of breath! I love mind over matter. Also, the universe helped us out with some exceptional running weather (mid 50s with a slight mist). holla!!!

Afterwards I caught up with George from CSN and got some foods and a Harpoon IPA. Then checked out the band – which was SO AWESOME. It was a Rolling Stones cover band. Superb. But it was C-O-L-D and I had further ventures so Lisa and I headed out shortly after the beer. We ended up SPRINTING to the 1 bus which **actually stopped** for us (amazing) and I jogged from Mass ave to Mazz’s for a quick shower/beer before heading to Cafe 939 for some Jukebox the Ghost action and a reunion with Shawn W. Of course we arrived JUST in time and were on the list and got hooked up with backstage passes because everyone and everything is just perfectly aligned these days. Got to catch up with both Tommy (friend from high school) and Shawn and took in a seriously fantastic performance. Check out Jukebox the Ghost ::: http://www.myspace.com/jukeboxtheghost

Afterwards, hit up TCs then RAN for the T again and came home to some around the house chores.

I got everything done and am packed up and ready to head to NYC after work for a weekend of fun, friends, family and amazingness.

la la la la la i love life.

The Year of Fit

I like to think that I’m moving steadily towards the most fit era of my life thus far.  This week, especially, has been a triumph on the fitness front.  On Sunday I ran a 5k, Monday took a long bike ride, Tuesday ran 4.95 miles, Wednesday 90 minutes of hot power yoga and now tonight I am running a 5.2 mile race.

Of course I’ve been pairing all this activity with alcohol and chocolate, but I feel like I’m seeing results regardless.

Actually, I haven’t been sleeping all that well… I wake up feeling restless and tired.  I’m using this as fuel to keep going, keep pushing myself, keep refining my bad habits.

The Baptiste Yoga has been really REALLY amazing.  It’s changing my outlook on life and is allowing me to deal with past regrets and move forward.  ALSO, I’m challenging myself to let go of grudges and bad tidings towards others for things I feel they’ve done to me in the past.  I’ve done my share of hurtful and harmful things and I’m trying to become a better person and find forgiveness for those things.

That’s all for now.  *hugs*

STAR TREK WAS SO AWESOME!

I WANT TO GO SEE IT AGAIN!!! Saturday night, I headed to the IMAX at Jordan’s in Natick with Jackson, Tom and Mazz. Holy goodness – this movie was all I could ever expect. The foam seats didn’t hurt, either. I will be seeing this movie again. Geeking on scifi these days.

yesterday was amazing…

…let me count the ways:

-free coffee coupons
-delicious bagel sandwich from brueggers
-beautiful weather
-hot yoga
-RUNNING INTO ANGIE AT HOT YOGA!!!!! which was SO amazing
-bananas and Mamma Mia! from Stop n Shop
-amazing dinner
-amazing shower

seriously obsessed with baptiste yoga. It makes me feel the way I imagine religious people feel at church. In the shower I was all smiles and positive energy and I kept wanting to say “THANKS BE TO GOD!” but I checked myself.

Anyways, feeling on top of the world these days.

IT IS THE FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!

From BoingBoing on TED talks:

THAT IS SO AWESOME!

one more quick thing

So the 5K “Run Like You Give a Damn” was on the same course as the Samaritans of Boston 5k and guess what?  My time was within 1 second of my last time.  How crazy is that?

I think I will try to fill in my running logs after all.

Life Update

well well well.  Life has been on the go-go-go recently!  This summer is sure going to be busy.  Thankfully I’ve started using Google Calendar so I can keep myself straight.  I keep double booking though!  wtf!  Anyways, I’ve been running fairly regularly (not as much as I’d hoped, though) but I’ve been absolutely horrible about updating the running log.  I started running home after work which is 4.95 miles.  However, after working 9 to 6, I don’t usually make it the entire 4.95 miles.  I’ve consistently made it to 4.2 miles, though, and I can live with that.  The worst part about running home is the crowded sidewalks.  Especially Harvard and Central Square.  It’s really just this side of bearable sometimes.  Anyhow, in lieu of this, I have canceled my membership at Planet Fitness.  I just didn’t have enough time to go and the last thing I’d want to do after working out is sit on the train for an hour to get home.  Yes, I could shower there but then I wouldnt get home till around 9 and that would also require using public gym showers.  So, no.  Saves me $20 a month.  Also, I’ve decided to stop buying a Charlie Card starting June 1.  I’m going to bike instead.  That will save me $59 a month and probably a lot of time to boot.  So, woo hoo.  I also returned that BlackBerry.  It was from, like, 2004 and couldnt even handle pix text messages.  Funny how quickly things go out of date these days.  I remember reading/thinking about this while I was doing academic research in school.  References over a few years old just seemed so out of date and unusable.  Right now there is still a fight in academia about the content of older sources vs. the validity of websites…. ANYWAYS

Jackson and I joined Lynette and Joan in a 5k “Run Like You Give a Damn” on Mother’s Day.  I came in at 26:49 (not chip timed).  Hoping to cut that down considerably by the end of the summer!

Last night I had a crazy dream.  I don’t remember much except Nicole was in it and I met Blaine.

Today on the T i got coupons for free coffee, woot woot!

That’s all for now. More later (?!).
